I would love to have information on speaking in tongues, praying in the spirit and the prophetic. I have several different bibles and have looked up on Bible gateway dot com about these subjects. I would love to have your take on these. I am a Christian, that believes in Jesus! I have no issues with my faith or God. Just curious about these things. Thank you very much for your time.

In the conversations you had with a mormon who attempted to explain their beliefs, I believe he wrote that the Pearl of Great Price was a papyrus found in the Dead Sea Scrolls. Did he say this and can it even be true that any fragment of LDS writings were ever found?
United States
[24-Vol 1]

ON DOCTRINE NOTE:
Yes, that was an actual conversation with a Mormon believer. His statement was as follows:
"Also, we believe in a book called the "Pearl of Great Price" which was pupyrus found in the Dead Sea, know as the Dead Sea Scrolls, that Joseph Smith had translated. In this book, we find conversations that the prophet Abraham had with God."
He was attempting to explain what Mormons believe, but did not know the sources of those beliefs. I am not sure why I did not call him on that particular statement, other than the errors of his basic beliefs are more serious than his understanding of where those beliefs originated within Mormon doctrine.

The Pearl of Great Price was never a papyrus and was not translated from a papyrus. It is a collection of Mormon writings and consists of the following:
1. The Book of Moses - an extract from the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible, the Book of Genesis.
2. The Book of Abraham - "A translation of some ancient records, that have fallen into our hands from the catacombs of Egypt."
3. Matthew - Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible, Matthew 23:39 and chapter 24.
4. Joseph Smith History - "Extracts From the History of Joseph Smith, the Prophet," History of the Church, vol. 1, chapters 1-5.
5. The Articles of Faith - 13 beliefs of the LDS church written in 1842.

The Dead Sea Scrolls have nothing to do with Mormon writings and were found in 1947, which was 103 years after the death of Joseph Smith, so he had nothing whatsoever to do with their translation. In fact, the Dead Sea Scrolls contain the oldest known copy of the Old Testament Book of Isaiah, and it does not confirm the "translation" of the Book of Isaiah that is contained in Joseph Smith's translation of the Bible (JST or the Inspired Version) and also does not confirm the translations of verses provided by him in the Book of Mormon. When the Dead Sea Scrolls were found, Mormons were anticipating that those documents would prove the validity of Joseph Smith's claims to be a translator, but just the opposite has been the case.

There have never been found any Mormon writings in any historical document or in any archaeological site anywhere in the world. There has never been found even one piece of archaeological evidence confirming the existence of any Book of Mormon people or the location of any town or place mentioned in the Book of Mormon. There is no Book of Mormon history or archaeology that can be studied outside the pages of the Book of Mormon.

I think the individual was confusing the claimed source of the Book of Abraham with is part of the Pearl of Great Price. Joseph Smith claimed to have translated the Book of Abraham from Egyptian papyri that came into his possession. The Book of Abraham was not a translation, but was actually a fabrication by Joseph Smith and the proof actually exists confirming that fact, although the Mormon church has declared the book to be scripture. That is just one of the reasons confirming that the Mormon church is false and that their presidents do not receive revelations from God.

Please tell me where I can find Jepha prayer that he prayed
thank for all information

Ohio, United States
[37-Vol 1]

ON DOCTRINE NOTE:
The story of Jephthah is found in Judges, chapters 11-12.
Jephthah states two prayers:
1. Chapter 11 verse 11 in which he recounts to God the events that led to his being appointed by the inhabitants of Gilead.
2. Chapter 12 verses 30-31, the "vow" of Jephthah.

Jephthah was a "valiant warrior" and a judge for six years, but he was not a prophet, so he made a foolish vow by presuming that the results would be favorable to him, but he presumed on the favor of God resulting in an outcome that was unfavorable to his daughter. Also, his prayer and vow was an attempt to coerce God into granting his wishes by including an "if - then" statement: "If You will indeed give . . . then it shall be . . ." God granted the victory, but what came out of the door of his house was his daughter, not some animal that could be sacrificed. When the attempt is made to coerce God into acting, the results can be disastrous, since human beings do not necessarily know what is best for them or what the future will bring as a result of a promise made without knowledge of the possible consequences.

Hi, I have a friend who is immersed in the teachings of Myles Munroe (Bahamas Faith Ministries) which is part of the Word Faith Movement. On further investigation, I have discovered that he graduated from Oral Robets University. He also appears regularaly on TBN, and also the Benny Hinn show "This is your day"
His teachings, especailly on "The Kingdiom of God" are weird to say the least. You can see him on youtube!
What do you know of him, so that I can warn my friend about this (possible _false teacher).

Many Thanks,

New Zealand
[50-Vol 1]

ON DOCTRINE NOTE:
I have not posted an article on Myles Monroe, simply because I have not had the time to do the research. I have heard him speak on TBN and he is solidly entrenched in the Word of Faith teaching expressed by Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Jesse Duplantis, Marilyn Hickey, Joyce Meyer and a host of other false teachers that are found on the TBN network and throughout the world.

Here are a few of his teachings.

1. Angels need the permission of a human being to act:
"That's why angel's need our permission to function.  It says they are here to do our bidding.  They can't even act without our permission, you see.  But, here's the bigger statement: Even God Himself is illegal on earth.  Why?  Because, He is a spirit and the law He set up by His own mouth was that only spirits with bodies can function on earth legally."

2. God needed Abraham's permission to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah:
"So, even though God can do anything, He can only do what you permit Him to do.  If you study the Word of God, you will see why it makes so much sense.  For example, God has done nothing on earth without a human co-operating with Him.  He had to find a human.  When God for example wanted to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah...Go ahead and destroy it!  No!  He [God] was illegal.  He had to find a human to give Him access and agreement to release His power.  So, then God had to negotiate with a man in Abraham.  They argued for a long time!...Abraham figured it out.  Abraham said, 'Ahh, Haa!  Okay, so I'll tell You what!  Before I give You permission to touch that city, if I could find 50 men, 40, 30, 10.'  He said, 'I'm dealing, and God had to deal with a man.'  And he said, 'If I could only find one.' God says, 'You got it!  You're the man!  Once you're satisfied and give Me permission I will act."

3. God needed Moses to agree, in order for Him to act:
"When you study Moses or any human that has been successful with God, you will find this dependency God has on humanity. God says, 'Moses, quickly agree with me.  Because your brother, your nephew is on the way.  We got to get this work done.  I need a human to agree.'  As soon as Moses agrees with God, God says, 'Okay, let's Go.'"

"Why can't God take care of Pharaoh by Himself?  Why can't God invade that government and disrupt that process and set them free by Himself?  He is illegal.  So God then has to get the attention of a human first.  Then spend hours, maybe even days trying to convince this one human to work with Him.  Moses came up with every single excuse he could find and gave them.  And Almighty God tolerated him, saying, 'Look, if you can't talk, I will speak for you.  If you got problems, I'll solve them for you.  If you're afraid, I'll give you courage.  In other words, whatever you need, please work with Me!  Cause I want to do something.  Give Me your body.'"

4. Prayer is granting permission to God to act in the earth:
"Our prayer is a strange experience.  We normally ask God to do things, God is telling us to command Him permission to do it for us."

"Let me define prayer for you in this show. Prayer is man giving God permission or license to interfere in earth's affairs.  In other words, prayer is earthly license for heavenly interference."

"Heaven depends on earth for interference.  If He could just find two people like you and I to agree.  We agree for God to do this thing.  Then God says, 'Thank you very much for permission!'  Then He can come."

5. Healing is a matter of giving God permission to accomplish the reality of healing:
"Every sick person is already healed.  That's why you don't really have to lay hands on a million of people in India to heal them. You don't have to, they are already healed. What God's problem is, is getting the healing to earth."

"When a human gets healed and becomes well again, God Himself is able to stay here legally longer."

"God could heal people by Himself as a spirit with power. But it's illegal to do it on earth.  So, He needs a human agency. What does laying your hands on a human to do with healing?  Well, really nothing. We touch you all the time but your sick. What He's looking for is permission! The power to heal is always present, but having permission to heal is held up by humanity and their lack of faith."

6. The Holy Spirit requires a wants a body:
"Every spirit is trying to find a body. Can I give you another shocker? Even the Holy Spirit, because He cannot function here without a body. That's why your called the body of Christ. And it says our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Cause He Himself needs to be legal to function."

7. God cannot oppose or deal with Satan without the participation of human beings:
"God made a promise to Satan, I paraphrase again, I believe God said it this way in my spirit.  He said, 'Satan, you know I can't come in right now because I'm a spirit. And if I came in now as a spirit I would violate My word, break my word, and I would never be able to be trusted again with My word. But, I'll make a promise, and the promise is: the same woman that you used to destroy My program on earth for humanity. I'm going to use the same woman and I'm going to put my seed in her womb and she'll build around Me a physical dirt body. And I will become legal in the earth. And then legal, I will then come in legally and crush your authority legally."

"Satan himself knew that in order for him to function on this earth that he needed a body also. That's why he had to go to the serpent which had a dirt body and negotiated with the serpent to borrow his body for awhile.  And he did, and that's why God cursed the serpent cause the serpent literally loaned his body to the adversary, who's a spirit, in order to do business legally with Eve."

8. God is not all powerful:
It bothered me, I'm sure it bothered you [Benny Hinn] for years as a pastor. If God is so mighty, powerful, awesome, omnipotent, omniscient, why couldn't this mighty God who made 500 million planets and galaxies couldn't stop a skinny little woman from picking the fruit and destroying His whole program? I mean, God aren't you powerful? You could intervene, you can destroy the works of the devil, prevent the woman and save humanity.  But He couldn't! Not that He didn't, He couldn't!"

Word of Faith teachers all accomplish two things in their doctrine:
1. God is divested of His omnipotence and authority, and reduced to the level of man.
2. Man is exalted to a position of power and authority equal to or greater than God.
Job 41:11; Jeremiah 50:44

Word of Faith worships the wrong God, promotes the wrong gospel of the atonement and presents a non-biblical view of the Holy Spirit.

Hope this helps.

Good Morning...God Speed!.. I read some of your belief, i agree with some but not all.. In our place we experience God, me and my family, experience the Grace of God.. I'm too religious before like you.. i'm very knowlegable also about the right doctrine, meaning the doctrine of yours and i are both the same, as i scan it in your website... but one thing i comment.. Don't limit God... what Paul experience in his time is not yours anymore, it his his portion!!!... God will work in your situation, in your time, in your place, in your faith, according to where or what your situation is... Remember Moses! Joshua, Joseph, DAniel, they both experience God in their own times differently!!!! but it doesn't mean that God's ways change, or God change, He is the same yesterday, today and forever... Therefore God will work in your place, time, situation, you will have your portion, allow God to work in you... Don't be too religious!!!! Stop it!. Experience God... Let your relation with God works in your life... Then SHARE it to us what God did in you ... That's revelation, coz this is the time of the Holy Ghost! God wants to work in you... Again don't limit God...we are in the BOOK O have victories in the Lord,.. Testify, beacause your testimonies will encourage, strengthen to our brothers in their faith as they walk in christian's walk..God bless you and God's speed!!!
