The true measure of a prophet is that what he says is truthful in relation to God, and accurate in
relation to fulfillment. A prophet must be truthful in EVERY statement regarding God and
accurate in EVERY prophecy. A prophet who fails, even once, in either area is a false prophet.
No statement or prophecy can then be considered to be from God. When a prophet speaks in the Name of the Lord, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him. The Holy Bible, Deuteronomy 18:22 (NAS) Even Mormon leadership agree with those definitions and conduct of a prophet. LDS President Ezra Taft Benson, the 13th LDS Prophet, stated: "The ultimate test of a true prophet is when he speaks in the name of the Lord, his words come to pass" Deseret News, October 6, 1981, p. 6a What is the record of Mormon presidents, prophets and seers in relation to the office that they claim to have: Oliver B. Huntington, a devout LDS contemporary of Joseph Smith, said that (Joseph) Smith taught, "The inhabitants of the moon are more of a uniform size than the inhabitants of the earth, being six feet in height. They dress very much like the Quaker style and are quite general in style or fashion of dress. They live to be very old; coming generally; near a thousand years. This is the description of them as given by Joseph (Smith) the Seer, and he could see whatever he asked the Father in the name of Jesus to see" Journal of Oliver B. Huntington, Vol. II, p. 166 So, the first Mormon president, prophet and seer of the Mormon church, Joseph Smith, failed the test of a true prophet, even by the definition of LDS president Ezra Taft Benson. Since Joseph Smith failed the test of a true prophet, he is a false prophet and NONE OF HIS PROPHECIES AND REVELATIONS CAN BE BELIEVED. Brigham Young, second LDS Prophet, said: "Who can tell us of the inhabitants of this little planet that shines of an evening, called the Moon?... When you inquire about the inhabitants of that sphere you find that the most learned are as ignorant in regard to them as the most ignorant of their fellows. So it is with regard to the inhabitants of the sun. Do you think it is inhabited? I rather think it is. Do you think there is any life there? No question about it; it was not made in vain". . . . "I have never yet preached a sermon and sent it out to the children of men, that they may not call Scripture." LDS 2nd president, prophet and seer, Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, Vol 13, p. 271, p. 95 If the sermons of Brigham Young were all "scripture" then he was making the claim that what he said came directly from God in the form of a revelation. It must be that the god of Brigham Young was uninformed about the moon and sun which he formed or else he was forgetful or senile. So, the second president, prophet and seer of the Mormon church, Brigham Young, failed the test of a true prophet, even by the definition of LDS president Ezra Taft Benson. Brigham Young also invented and taught the doctrine that Adam was god and should be worshipped as such by all Mormons. The Mormon church has since rejected that doctrine and stated that those who taught it were "deluded cultists". However, they have never stated that Brigham Young was a heretic and have never denounced him for teaching the false doctrine, because that would bring into question the validity of the claim by the Mormon church that their presidents, prophets and seers speak the words of god. However, since Brigham Young failed the test of a true prophet and taught heresy against Mormon doctrine, NONE OF HIS PROPHECIES AND REVELATIONS CAN BE BELIEVED. A "prophet" may carefully choose what he says when there is the possibility that what he is claiming can be verified by persons within his own organization or that he may personally be responsible for what he says. The true measure of his integrity is what he claims when he believes that there is no possibility that he can be contradicted in the manner of a confirmation of fact or falsehood. Both Joseph Smith and Brigham Young knew that there was no possibility that their "prophecies" regarding the sun and moon could be repudiated, since it was impossible, at that time, for someone to go and check. The most outrageous things can be claimed when a "prophet" knows that he can claim and say anything that cannot be denied by the presentation of factual information. Today, those "prophecies" can be repudiated. The moon has been visited and there are no beings there now, and there never were any beings living on that sphere. As for the sun being inhabited, it was a ludicrous "prophecy" that is refuted by scientific evidence. "Prophets" who speak falsely or erroneously and claim that their message is from god, speak a lie and are heretics. They are false prophets; nothing of what they say is from God and nothing of what they say can be believed. The prophets prophesy lies, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this way. But what will you do in the end? The Holy Bible, Jeremiah 5:31 (NIV) |
