Benny Hinn is a self-proclaimed prophet and healer, declaring that God anointed him to the
ministry and that He affirms his calling by appearing to him on a continual basis. Benny Hinn
curses those who oppose him or question the validity of his ministry. He claims to be able to
heal on a massive scale but he has never produced even one case of a verified healing that could
be attributed to himself. Like all healers before him and at the current time, he can only heal
invisible diseases. He has never healed a visible ailment such as a missing limb, deformity, facial
injury such as a burn, leprosy, quadriplegic paralysis or any other visible form of disease or
injury
that could be verified.
Benny Hinn claims to talk with, and receive personal messages from God, almost on a daily
basis. He claims that those messages from God guide his life, guide his ministry and even direct
the content of his sermons.
Benny Hinn claims to be a prophet, asserting that he receives information directly from God
about events that are to happen in the future. He has made predictions regarding future events in
his meetings and on television which are documented.
PROPHECIES OF BENNY HINN
The Bible is very specific regarding the actions of a person who claims to be a prophet. In all
cases, that person must be accurate 100% of the time in every prophecy. Any failure disqualifies
the person from being able to claim that they are a prophet from God. In the Old
Testament, a person who claimed to be a prophet, but whose prophecies were found to be false,
was sentenced to death:
"But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in My name which
I have not commanded him so speak, or which he speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet
shall die." You may say in your heart, 'How will we know the word which the Lord has not
spoken?' When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not come about or
come true, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it
presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.
Deuteronomy 18:20-22 (NAS)
"...and I will also remove the prophets and the unclean spirit from the
land. And if anyone still prophesies, then his father and mother who gave birth to him will say to
him, 'You shall not live, for you have spoken falsely in the name of the Lord'; and his father and
mother who gave birth to him will pierce him through when he prophesies."
Zechariah 13:2b-3
Benny Hinn should be thankful that he does not live in those times, because his prophecies are
false.
- FALSE PROPHECY #1
JESUS CHRIST WILL PERSONALLY APPEAR ON THE PLATFORM IN ONE OF
BENNY HINN'S CRUSADES
Benny Hinn:
"Ladies and gentleman, Jesus is shaking the world! Now something else is happening that
is to me awesome! Absolutely awesome! The Lord is physically appearing in the Muslim
world. I'm telling you, Paul, I am hearing it now more and more and more. Since we
preachers cannot go there, Jesus is, just going there Himself. Since we preachers are not
permitted to go in, He is just showing up Himself. You know the Scriptures says clearly
that the Lord did appear, did He not? Ah for forty days, isn't that right? And the Scriptures says
He, He, He even, He even appeared to Paul. He's doing the same thing today in the Muslim
world. He's appearing, hear this, He is appearing to Muslims, saying I am Jesus of
Nazareth! And they're coming to know the Lord!"
Benny Hinn:
"I know deep in my soul something supernatural is going to happen in Nairobi
Kenya. Paul and Jan are coming to Nairobi with me, but Paul, we may very well come
back with footage of Jesus appearing on the platform. You know that the Lord appeared in
Romania recently and there's a video of it, where the Lord appeared in there back of a church
and you see Him on video walking down the aisle, Yea. Paul do you remember when I came on
TBN years ago I showed you a clip of the Lord appearing in our church in Orlando on the
balcony on the wall? Yea you remember that.
Paul Crouch:
"Yea, very well. I saw it."
Benny Hinn:
"That was eighty, something eighty sixty, whatever. You know I always wondered why the
Lord, why did He do that , you know why now I look back that was the beginning of the greatest
move of God in our church. Because 83, 84, 85 were horrible years for me, horrible years. 86,
the blessings of God began but they began with this manifestation of the Lords face on the
balcony that stayed for 8 weeks, 8 solid weeks. The Lord has done this in the past but He's
about to do it again, now here this. I'm prophesying this. Jesus Christ the Son of God is about
to appear physically in some Churches, some meetings and to many of His people. For one
reason
to tell you He's about to show up, to wake up, Jesus is coming
saints."
Benny Hinn:
"She (Ruth Heflin - the woman Benny Hinn claims is a prophetess)
just sent me a word through my wife and said the Lord spoke to her
audibly and said that He is going to appear physically in one of our crusades in the next few
months. "the Lord spoke to her audibly and said, 'Tell Benny I'm going to appear
physically on the platform in his meetings.' Lord, do it in Phoenix Arizona in the name of
Jesus! And in Kenya too, Lord, please, Lord, in fact, do it in every crusade."
Prophecy given: Praise The Lord, TBN, television program, March 29, 2000:
Benny Hinn:
"Ruth Heflin said, the Lord spoke to her recently, and she called my wife and told her
to tell me, that Jesus said to her, that He will appear physically on the platform in one of our
crusades. She said, 'Tell Benny, that the Lord told me that He is going to appear physically
appear physically on the platform, and the crowds will see Him, on the platform.' Dear God
my hair is standing up!" It may very well happen in Nashville! She said, thousands will
see the Lord, on the platform!"
Prophecy given: Praise The Lord, TBN, television program, April 20, 2000:
BENNY HINN:
"...We are about to see the greatest manifestations of God's presence ever! A
prophetess named Ruth Heflin sent me a word recently and told me to get ready, to see, physical
manifestations of Christ on the platforms in our crusades, that people will have visions of the
Lord in the meetings. Those things have happened in the past, I know. In a Thailagua
meeting one time in Africa, the Lord appeared to a, to the whole crowd! It is about to begin
happening. I know it too! Expect it to happen also, in your own home!"
Prophecy given: Praise The Lord, TBN, television program, May 2, 2000:
Benny Hinn repeats the prophecy of a "prophetess", Ruth Heflin, that Jesus Christ will physically
appear in one, or more, of Benny Hinn's crusade meetings, and will actually be on the platform
with Benny Hinn. This is remarkable. Benny Hinn must be a very important person for that to
happen, very important indeed.
Apparently, the Lord had a difficult time getting through to Benny Hinn, because he was very
busy with important matters, so He couldn't give him the revelation directly. Instead, God had to
go through Ruth Heflin, and Ruth Heflin had to go through Benny Hinn's wife who then
delivered
the message to Benny Hinn. So much for the ability of God to give direct revelation. It's hard to
understand why God speaks to Benny Hinn, seemingly on an almost daily basis, but he couldn't
deliver the most important message in Benny Hinn's career to him directly.
Now, that difficulty should cause some questions. Perhaps Benny Hinn is using Ruth Heflin as
the patsy in the whole deal. If the prophecy doesn't come true, he can say it was Ruth Heflin's
prophecy and not his. He should have stuck to that course of action, but he got too enthusiastic
and overstepped the plan when he stated, "I'm prophesying this. Jesus
Christ the Son of God is about to appear physically in some Churches, some meetings and to
many of His people. For one reason to tell you He's about to show up, to wake up, Jesus is
coming saints." And later he said, "It is about to begin
happening.
I know it too!"
It has been four years since Benny Hinn and Ruth Heflin gave their prophecies and Ruth Heflin
has since died. Not much has been said recently about those prophecies by Benny Hinn. Perhaps
his silence is due to the fact that Jesus Christ did not appear in his meeting in Nairobi, or in his
meeting in Nashville or in any other meeting since. Perhaps God gave the revelation too early.
More likely, Ruth Heflin made a mistake or Benny Hinn made a mistake, or both made a mistake.
The reality is, both Ruth Heflin and Benny Hinn made two great mistakes by claiming that they
were, and are, prophets, when they are both false prophets. Neither one received a prophetic
message from God. By stating that they were speaking the words of God, they placed themselves
under the condemnation of God. To continue stating that they are prophets and speak for God,
without repenting of that untruth, indicates that they persist in living a life of untruth.
"Then if anyone says to you, 'Behold, here is the Christ,' or 'There He is,' do not believe him."
"So if they say to you, 'Behold, He is in the wilderness,' do not go out, or, 'Behold, He is in the inner
rooms,' do not believe them. For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes even to the west,
so will the coming of the Son of Man be."
Matthew 24:23, 26-27 (NAS)
Benny Hinn claims to be a spokesman for Jesus Christ. But he ignores or is ignorant of the words
already spoken by Jesus Christ, and in proclaiming his alleged "prophecy" he directly contradicts
what Jesus Christ has already said. In point of fact, his "prophecy", if it was accepted as true,
would make Jesus Christ to be a liar based on what He has revealed in the Scripture.
No mention is made in the New Testament regarding appearances by Jesus Christ prior to His
coming again, especially in meetings with Benny Hinn. In fact, the Scripture warns against those
who would claim that Jesus Christ will appear, has appeared or is appearing, prior to His second
coming.
"Then if anyone says to you, 'Behold, here is the Christ,' or 'There He is,' do not believe him. For
false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to
mislead, if possible, even the elect. Behold, I have told you in advance. So if they say to you,
'Behold, He is in the wilderness,' do not go out, or, 'Behold, He is in the inner rooms,' do not
believe them. For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashed even to the west, so will
the coming of the Son of Man be."
Matthew 24:23-27 (NAS)
Benny Hinn hasn't reached the position of success that is indicated by the above verses, as
applying to those false prophets and false Christs. They are successful in their delusions and in
their healings. Benny Hinn is an amateur in relation to them, but he is no less a false prophet,
because he has prophesied falsely.
Benny Hinn also ignores the fact that Jesus does not know the time in which He will return, and
therefore, He could not be appearing to announce that He is returning. He is returning again
someday, but the words of Benny Hinn lead a person to believe that Jesus is going to announce
His imminent return, which He cannot know and indicates such by His own words.
"But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the
Father alone."
Matthew 24:36 (NAS) cf Mark 13:32
- FALSE PROPHECY #2
GOD WILL DESTROY THE HOMOSEXUAL COMMUNITY
"The Lord also tells me to tell you, in mid 90s, about '94 or '95, no later than that, God
will destroy the homosexual community of America. But He will not destroy it with what many
minds have thought Him to be. He will destroy it with fire. And many will turn and be saved, and
many will rebel and be destroyed."
Prophecy given: Orlando Christian Center, December 31, 1989
Apparently God gave a revelation to Benny Hinn about which He was not too sure Himself. He
had not decided whether the date was to be 1994 or 1995. Benny Hinn must have gotten the
whole revelation wrong or perhaps the century was wrong. Perhaps, instead of 1994 or 1995, it
should have been 2094 or 2095. That would certainly be an excuse that he could use, but in any
case, the prophecy was false and so Benny Hinn is once again revealed as a false prophet.
- FALSE PROPHECY #3
AN EARTHQUAKE WILL HIT THE EAST COAST
"The Spirit of God tells me, an earthquake will hit the East Coast of America and
destroy much in the 90's. Not one place will be safe from earthquakes in the 90's. These who
have known earthquakes will know it. People I feel the Spirit all over me
[speaks in 'tongues']"
Prophecy given: Orlando Christian Center, December 31, 1989
Just like in the prophecy about the homosexual community, Benny Hinn must have gotten the
century wrong. Perhaps in the 2090's and not the 1990's? Once again, Benny Hinn is revealed as
a false prophet.
- FALSE PROPHECY #4
FIDEL CASTRO WILL DIE IN THE 1990'S
"The Spirit tells me, Fidel Castro will die in the 90's. Oh my. Some will try to kill him
and
they will not succeed. But there will come a change in his physical health, and he will not stay in
power. And Cuba will be visited of God. I will visit Cuba. Oh. Oh. Holy Spirit do you mean he'll
die
physically? What do you mean, Holy Spirit? Tell me please. My. Oh. Holy Spirit just said to me, it
could be worse than any death you can imagine. There's some question in my spirit on what kind
of
death the Lord means. I'm not sure. I see him. Uh. I see Cas, I, I see Castro bent over behind bars.
I don't know what that means."
Prophecy given: Orlando Christian Center, December 31, 1989
Fidel Castro will eventually die, but the decade of the 1990's has come and gone, and Fidel
survived every year. Once again, Benny Hinn is revealed as a false prophet.
How many false prophecies does it take to reveal and prove that an individual is a false prophet?
Benny Hinn's career as a prophet has been chronicled as one of failure. He is unable to prophesy,
because he is not a prophet and not anointed by God. Yet, he continues to go on in his
"ministry", never apologizing for his errors or repenting to God for claiming what God did not
give to him. Those who continue to support Benny Hinn, when confronted by his numerous false
prophecies, only deceive themselves and place themselves in a position to be judged by God for
their own actions in support of a false prophet.
THE FALSE TEACHINGS OF BENNY HINN
Unless a person reads their Bible and then compares what it says to what Benny Hinn says, then
they will have no idea that what Benny Hinn teaches is not found in the Bible.
- "When you say I am a Christian, you are saying I am a messiah in
Hebrew."
Benny Hinn makes a huge grammatical error by making this statement. Christian is an
adjective, from the Greek word christianos, meaning a follower of or believer in the
person of Christ or the teachings of Christ or being a representative of Christ or His beliefs and
teachings. The words Christian, or christianos, are descriptive words referring to
the possession of the qualities, character or beliefs of the noun Christ or christos.
Christos is the Greek term referring to the Hebrew term mashiah, meaning
anointed. The description, Christian or chritianos, is not the same as being the
Christ, christos or mashiah. Benny Hinn should have consulted a basic
dictionary before making such outrageous and false claims.
- "God the Father, ladies and gentleman, is a person and He is a
triune being by Himself, separate from the Son and the Holy Ghost. See, God the Father is a
person, God the Son is a person, God the Holy Ghost is a person; but each one of them is a triune
being by himself. If I can shock you and maybe I should, there's nine of them! What did
you say? Let me explain. God the Father, ladies and gentlemen, is a person with his own personal
spirit, with his own personal soul and his own personal spirit body. You say, I never heard that!
Well, you think you are in church to hear things you heard for the last fifty years?"
In this statement, Benny Hinn embraces Mormon doctrine which states that God was once a man
and attained to godhood by following the beliefs of the Mormon religion. Since God was once a
man, he has a body and is the same size as an average human man. By embracing that view,
Benny Hinn denies the direct and specific teaching in the Bible that God is a spirit as is the Holy
Spirit. God does not have a spirit, He is a spirit. The Holy Spirit does not have a body, because,
by definition, He is the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is a spirit who has taken on the nature of
humanity and now possesses a transformed and glorified heavenly body about which we know
nothing. While on earth as a man, Christ voluntarily set aside the characteristics of his place in
the Godhead, but on His resurrection He took those characteristics back and is fully God in His
original position. Benny Hinn, in stating there are nine constituents in the Godhead, teaches a grave
and heretical error.
When confronted with the heretical teaching, Benny Hinn recanted the belief. But there is still
the troubling problem of Benny Hinn claiming to be a prophet and teaching what God tells him to
teach, which turns out to be error.
God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.
John 4:24 (NAS)
- "I've known moments when I've felt the presence of God, I've
smelled the presence of God. I did this morning right here. And those around me smelled the
frankincense. In Detroit, Michigan, so great was the presence of God, the whole building began
to fill up with a mist and we began to breath it and smell it, frankincense. I've seen the presence of
God. I not only have smelled it, I've seen it with my own eyes. Moses saw a cloud. Peter, James
and John saw a cloud. As Christ walked into that cloud, and the voice of God spoke and said,
'This is my beloved Son, hear Him.' Many times, in our own meetings, many times I will see a
mist over people. I can actually see like a mist over the people's heads. Elisha said, 'Open his eyes,
Lord. Open the eyes of my servant so he might see.'"
Apparently, Benny Hinn has a very educated nose that can sniff out God no matter where He is
hiding. He also has magical eyes that can see the presence of God when it is not visible to
anyone else. The earthly fragrance of frankincense is somehow equated with the presence of God.
Since there is no reason for frankincense to be growing in heaven, it is unknown why God should
appear accompanied by that fragrance. No where in the Bible is the appearance of God ever
connected with an accompanying fragrance.
Perhaps Benny Hinn should check the air conditioning and heating systems of the auditoriums in
which he preaches before claiming that the "mist" he sees is the presence of God. Large crowds
of people emit large quantities of water vapor that can hang in the air, giving an auditorium a very
heavy feeling, even to the point of there being a mist if the air is not being circulated
properly.
The reference to Elisha and the eyes of his servant being opened, 2 Kings 6:17, is totally
inappropriate in relation to the situation to which he is referring. If he is using the verse in the
sense that he wishes his eyes to be opened to see the heavenly host, like Elisha's servant, then he
must be wishing to see the presence of God. However, no man has seen God at any time,
according to the scripture and Benny Hinn will be no exception.
- "It's closer to you than the air you breath. I've walked in that world.
I've seen things you would never be able to understand. Paul, do you believe that I am a man of
God? Do you? How long have you known me? Am I crazy? Can I tell you something? I've never
shared this. Never! I was in prayer one day and a man appeared in front of me. For two days in a
row, twice, one day and the next day. I saw this man in my room. It frightened me at first. When
you enter into this world of prayer it starts with the mind where you're so accustomed to the
things around you, then you enter into a spiritual thickness and wealth where nothing bothers
you, nothing frightens you. Angels don't surprise you anymore with their appearance because
you've been already tasting and been feeling and you been living in an atmosphere. Do you
understand that? You are not shocked by anything. There appeared to me a man. He was about
six feet two. Old man, white beard. His face was somewhat thin, but very bold. Eyes, crystal
blue. He had on a white garment. On his head was like a shawl. He looked like a priest. But every
part of Him glistened like crystal. And I spoke out and I said, Lord, who is this man I see? I
know you might think I lost my mind, but the Lord said, Elijah the prophet! Do you know when
that happened? That happened days before the anointing on my life doubled. Literally! The
ministries' anointing doubled after that."
Honolulu Hawaii, Feb. 28, 1997
Benny Hinn can make any claim that he might wish, but the proof is whether what he speaks is
Scriptural or not. The problem is not in the vision itself, which can neither be proved or
disproved, but in the reference to the double anointing. Where is there any reference in the
Bible that supports the concept of a double anointing? How does Benny Hinn determine what is
a double anointing? In other words, how does he measure what he considers to be a double
anointing?
Benny Hinn not only is teaching a doctrine that he created himself, he is arrogantly placing
himself above everyone around him by claiming that everyone else is anointed, but he is doubly
anointed. He is greater, superior and more important spiritually in his position with God, than
anyone else. Not only is he greater and more important, he claims to be twice as great and twice
as important.
